Hello! We are Jordan and Ilse, best friends who share a passion for sandwiches.
We are both Oregon natives who met while working for an iconic Portland toy store. We bonded over a decade of eating lunch at downtown sandwich shops. Since then Jordan became, and still is, a successful bar/restaurant owner and Ilse went on to be a supervisor at a garden center, however, our experience with and appreciation for good food and coffee has only grown.
Twenty-five years later we have remained the best of friends and when opportunity knocked we jumped at the chance to create a place of our own. Hello Cafe came to be through the love and memories of those sandwich shops we visited almost daily (anyone remember Cup of Cheer, Tubbies, that place on the park)?
We will strive to satisfy those similar memories for you with classic sandwiches, deli salads, soup, and a few surprises along the way. You can continue to get Bad Beards Coffee, a treat, lunch, and an easy take home dinner.
We are extremely proud to adopt Jill’s space. Jill has made a wonderful impact on the community and brought such joy to the area. While the menu and decor will change, the passion and comfort will remain. We both look forward to becoming a part of the community and can’t wait to say HELLO to you!
